To facilitate access to published accounts
of the New York State Avian Records Committee (NYSARC), we
make our Annual Reports available on this website.
As a cautionary note, typographical errors may have crept in during
the transfer of earlier reports to electronic format. If
you notice any errors, please
, so that we can make the necessary corrections.
NYSARC HISTORICAL DATABASE
The database currently lists over 3000 observer reports reviewed by NYSARC, from its inception in 1977 through 2020. Two viewing options are available:
Click on any species listed for a popup chart showing individual report information including date, county, status, publication date,Volume and Number of The Kingbird in which the pertinent NYSARC report or sighting information was published, and observers for accepted reports. Click on the Kingbird Volume/Number information to access the Annual Report containing details of any listed decision.
The NYSARC Historical Database of reports is available to anyone for non-commercial use. We especially encourage use of these data for research, outreach, and education. We ask only that you provide a citation (see below) should some information gleaned from it appear in a publication, whether in print or online. Even if nothing is published, it would be of interest to NYSARC to know how this dataset is being used - please drop us a line at nysarc44@nybirds.org.
The NYSARC Historical Database is provided under a Creative Commons BY-NC license. This license allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommercial purposes, with appropriate attribution. Please contact NYSARC at nysarc44@nybirds.org with any queries regarding commercial use of the database.
The ultimate aim of NYSARC is to facilitate a
better understanding of the New York State avifauna. We hope
this web database will prove useful and interesting to researchers
and birders alike. By improving access to past records, we hope
to encourage more observers to submit their own current observations.
